Every Summer, Area 10 Faith Community hosts what we call “Summer of Fun” - an opportunity work together to plan a variety of opportunities to connect with others in our community over common hobbies and interests.

We know building friendships as an adult can be difficult, so these events are designed to be easy, welcoming spaces to connect with people who already share your interests. No pressure, no hidden agenda—just simple opportunities to enjoy something fun together, build community, and form meaningful friendships along the way.

Earn badges ALONG THE WAY!

What’s better than attending fun events all summer long?
…Making it some kind of competition or challenge, obviously.

Every event you attend earns you a badge (psst - it’s really a sticker)! As you try new things and meet new people, you’ll also earn some pretty sweet stickers that will remind you of those new shared experiences.

Hit four or more badge categories and you’ll earn the Island Hopper Badge—proof you didn’t just dip your toes in, you explored the whole shoreline. Lead an event and you’ll earn the Torchbearer Badge, because every great summer needs someone to light the way.

• 🐚 Seaside Games Badge – For those who play to win (or just for fun).
  From trivia nights and board games to kickball and backyard competitions, these events bring a little friendly rivalry to the shoreline. Any game, competition, or sports-related event will earn you a Seaside Games badge!

• 🏄 Wave Rider Badge – For the sunshine-lovers and outdoor explorers.
  Hit the trails, paddle the river, or chase a new view. These adventurous events are all about fresh air, movement, and discovering something new. Any outdoor activity or event will give you the chance to earn a Wave Rider badge!

• 🍍 Luau Life Badge – For those who are here for party (or maybe just the food).
  Food, laughter, and good company take center stage here. Think cookouts, parties, shared meals, and easygoing gatherings with island-style hospitality. Attend a social event to earn your Luau Life badge!

• 🎶 Creative Current Badge – For the makers and music-lovers.
  Whether you're painting, crafting, creating, playing music or just enjoying some tunes, you’ve learned to go with the flow and tap into your creative energies, earning you the Creative Current badge!

• 🌅 New Horizon Badge – For the curious who never stop learning.
  Try something new, learn a skill, or stretch your perspective. These events are all about growth, discovery, and stepping into something different. Events that get you out of your comfort zone will earn you a New Horizon badge.

• 🌴 Beach Hideaway Badge – For taking time to rest and slowing things down.
  Low-key and restful, these gatherings are perfect when you need to recharge. Think reading nights, coffee meetups, or simply unwinding together. Events about slowing down or chilling out will earn you a Beach Hideaway badge.

  You set the tone, gathered the people, and made it happen. This badge is an additional thank you for stepping up and leading the way on a Summer of Fun event!

• 🏝️ Island Hopper Badge – For collecting four or more badges.
  You really put your heart into Summer of Fun this year. When you earn ANY four badges, you’ll also pick up an extra Island Hopper badge!

• 🌺 Big Kahuna Badge – For the ultimate Summer of Fun enthusiast!
  You didn’t just show up—you made the most of summer. When you manage to collect ALL the other badges, you can email Rachel to receive an extra special, super secret, incredibly awesome prize.

LEAD A Summer of Fun Event!

Every summer, our community creates the magic. And we need you to help make it happen.

Hosting an event doesn’t have to be complicated. Think beach-day energy—simple, fun, and shared. Plan a morning hike, a picnic at Belle Isle, a sunset dinner, a backyard water day, or a casual game night. If you’re already doing something you enjoy, invite a few others along and you’ve got yourself a Summer of Fun event.

Once you’ve got a plan, fill out the Summer of Fun Leader Form and we’ll take care of spreading the word. About a week before your event, you’ll send out a quick email with details to everyone who signed up—and that’s it.

So grab your shades, set the scene, and bring people together.
