Bonsai is an ancient oriental horticultural art form; "bonsai" literally means "tree-in-a-pot". Shape, harmony, proportion and scale are all weighed carefully to create, in miniature, what appears to be a mature, full-size tree. The presentation will include a brief history, examples of various styles, specialized tools and techniques for growing and shaping trees. There will also be a demonstration using nursery stock illustrating how to create a bonsai. Children 10 and over welcome.
